Welcome to the Woodruff Community Center website. I have been the executive director of the Center for a little over a year, taking the position in March of 2017. I am a retired public school teacher, having taught History courses and Government/Economics. The past year has been both an exciting and challenging time for the Center. We have recently strengthened our mission and vision for the District 4 community, renovated our facility, expanded our thrift store to include a consignment area, and partnered with some exceptional other non-profits as well as local businesses. One of our greatest blessings this past year was becoming owners of both buildings, thanks to former owners Danny and Emily Harrison. One of our main physical challenges over the year has been a roof that desperately needs to be replaced. We eagerly anticipate this work to be done very soon, but as you know, this is a very costly endeavor. Hopefully, once the roof is replaced, we can renovate the 2nd floor area in the Center so that it can be made available for classes and other activities.
Woodruff Community Center is very fortunate to have an amazing group of volunteers that helps with the day-to-day operations and an involved executive board that contributes to our mission and vision and has a desire to serve this community. Our goal is to make the Center a vital part of the District 4 community, serving disadvantages families, as well as, providing opportunities for all. We are located in the old Belk building, on the right, driving south on Hwy 221. We'd like to invite you to come visit with us, and better yet, become a part of what we envision for our community because as our logo says, Woodruff Community Center, "Where Community Unites".
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website! Hope to see you soon!
